Do you remember when........

     you first enrolled at Eagleton School?  or your first day in the "upper grades?"  Hopefully the pictures of you and your classmates which you find posted here will bring back lots of good memories of friends, accomplishments and yes, even some mischief!  And what was that story about a ton of coal.......oh, well, some of you will not have forgotten!

     Many of our number have remained in Blount County; others moved out-of-town and still others moved out-of-state.  Yet most of us have maintained contact with at least one, and sometimes more, of our former classmates from Eagleton.  We were fortunate to have lived in communities from which most students attended the same school and same churches.  The Village, Overlook, Blount Hills, Rock Gardens, Meadowbrook.......we just didn't realize how good we had it back then, did we!

     So what do you think about getting together for lunch sometime?  Three of your former classmates met on August 14 to begin planning for a get-together in Maryville on November 7, for lunch.  This won't be the usual "reunion" type of affair.......if you can come, we'd love to see you.  If you can't make it, well, we will miss having the opportunity to see you again.  We'd just like to enjoy a meal with old friends and catch up on where life has taken us.  Our tentative plan is to have lunch on Nov 7 at R.J.'s Court Yard on Alcoa Highway; if enough people tell us they will be there, we will get a dining room separate from the main restaurant.

     We have scheduled some "mini-lunches" which will double as planning meetings on the following dates: (CANCELLED Tuesday, Sept 4) and Date Changed Wednesday, Oct 17, at the Bistro (called "Ann's Place") at Asbury Acres Retirement Center on Sevierville Road in Maryville.  And no, none of us live there.....yet!  It's just that the Bistro is new enough that it's not crowded at lunchtime, so we will be able to enjoy our food and conversation without the noise we might experience at a lot of other places. 

     We welcome you, your input and your assistance with this project, for the three of us cannot do it by ourselves.  Again, it's no big affair, so there will be no involved planning.  We do, however, need your help to identify people in pictures and to locate "missing" persons.  And if you come to all of the lunch meetings, you'll be able to connect with more people than if you only come to the one in November!

     I hope you will take time to look at the pictures posted on our blog.  Just "click" on one of the pages listed in blue on the right side of this page to access the photo or photos listed under that topic.   In some cases, all of the students in a class are identified, but in most cases, names are missing or some may be incorrect.  If you can provide the names of ANY of the students, please do!  You may contact us at our new email address:  eagleton1958@yahoo.com.  None of us realized how difficult it would be to recognize classmates we haven't seen in 50 years!

     So come on, join in........if you live too far away and know you can't come to any of our lunch meetings, at least you can try to help us identify some of our former classmates!
